Sometime Last Night in San Diego

Last night I went to the R5 concert in San Diego at the Balboa Theatre. To say the least, it was the best and most fun night ever.
Gia and Elizabeth

My friend Elizabeth left the house at around 12 and we drove about 3 hours to San Diego. During the ride there we charged our phones, and listened to music ( Fall Out Boy, Jonas Brothers and other stuff like that). When we got there it was around 3 o'clock and we had a whole hour to burn so we went into this small sushi restaurant and ate a little before we had to get into line for the Meet and Greet. When we left the sushi place we went into the line and we found Liz's internet friend and they were so happy to see each other.

While waiting for the Meet and Greet, a guy who was a part of some camera crew asked an adult to sign some form saying that we are allowed to be filmed before, during and after the concert for some kind of movie/documentary. The line was getting shorter and we were soon going to meet R5. We were getting more and more anxious because we have been waiting for this moment for so long and now it was finally going to happen. We walked into the venue and we saw five giants standing in front of the background. (To be honest they didn't look as tall as I last remembered, but they were still really tall.) We all said "hi" to each other and we all went for hugs. I started with Rydel and Ellington on the right while Liz started on the other side with Rocky and Riker. We went around with hugs until we needed to take the pictures. I handed someone my phone and asked them to take a video of the whole Meet and Greet, but that person only took some pictures which actually turned out really funny because it showed how truly nervous and scared we were to be next to our favorite band. We took a good picture and a funny one and we went to our seats for sound check.

During sound check they asked us which songs we wanted them to play. I was filming the whole thing and I didn't want to interrupt my video so i let everyone else choose. They played their songs "Wishing I was 23" and "Things Are Looking Up". In the middle of both songs they messed up and someone forgot the words to the song. Everyone had a good time and we were all getting ready to leave after we got our swag bags. Inside the swag bags was a "SLN 2016 tour" poster, a CD of "R5 Live at the Greek", and a lanyard that says "R5 VIP Experience".

Everyone was at their seats and the opening act was about to go on. Not a lot of people knew who they were but their music was actually pretty good. After them, Ryland came out and everyone in the first two rows ran to the stage. I got to the front of everyone and we partied like there was no tomorrow. Ryland was giving out some free merch to random people and he gave me his water bottle that he drank out of that night. Some other girls snatched it from my hands and i got kinda mad because it was very clearly in my hand and they had to have it. After the awesome party with Ryland he wanted us to take a picture with him for his snapchat. I was having so much fun and then everyone had to go back to their seats to wait until R5 came on. The lights turned off and music was playing and everyone went crazy. I went so crazy I nearly passed out during some songs. I stood in the second row behind two girls that were standing between Ross and Riker. Towards the end of the concert Riker knelt down with his bass and handed me a signed guitar pick and I was so happy, but then the girls in front of me nearly broke my hand to take it from me. I held onto that guitar pick like it was my whole life and those girls took it from me. The concert ended and I was already crying because I didn't want to leave and I didn't want those girls to leave with MY guitar pick. We left the venue and I cried in the car for at least ten minutes then I realized that I didn't need a guitar pick to make me happy. I had so much fun and took so many good pictures and videos the guitar pick didn't even matter anymore. We went to In N Out at like 11 o'clock and it was the perfect ending for an amazing night.

Meet and Greets

Hello my lovely readers :) I don't really keep schedule anymore but its because I don't really know what to write about. R5 haven't really done anything crazy yet so there's not really any news yet. I'm going to their San Diego concert this weekend and I am so excited and extremely nervous. I have to drive two hours to San Diego then check in for meet and greet and VIP stuff. I have only gotten meet and greet once and it was almost two years ago so I don't really remember a lot.

For Meet and Greet I would recommend getting there 1-2 hours prior to the gates opening. This will get you to the front of the line and to take the picture with the band sooner. I also don't recommend eating or drinking too much before because when you are nervous you can get nauseous very easily. Meet and greets can last up to two to three hours. I only had to wait somewhere between an hour or an hour and a half to get two pictures with them (its usually one picture per person). After the pictures you get your swag bag and you have to wait until all of the gates open for the actual concert.

Ill get back to you guys with more details after the concert this weekend :)

Merch and Stuff

Hello my lovely readers! How was your winter break? Mine was amazing. Today I will be talking about which band merchandise is best to buy at home and which is best to buy at concerts.

In my opinion, you shouldn't buy a lot of merch at once. Why?

  1. It probably costs a lot.
  2. You will have nowhere to put it during the concert.
The only type of merch you should buy at concerts are the ones you can put on. (e.g. a necklace, bracelet, shirt, sweater etc.) The sweaters R5 sell on their website are very warm so I wouldn't buy a sweater before and during the concert, I would buy it after. Shirts are very tempting to buy, I would buy them either during the concert or not at all because the merch people run to are the shirts. Shirts are the pieces of merchandise that sell out the fastest. Necklaces and bracelets are the best to buy because they are small and you can wear them everywhere and it is a constant reminder of where you were.

The best merch to buy at home are the big posters and the seasonal merch. The seasonal merch wont be at any concert and it is very limited.
